Prairie Hockey Academy (0) vs Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) U15
All of the scoring in this matchup technically only took place within a 52-second period. Max Xing put RHA Winnipeg on the board first with 27-seconds left in the frame while Beck Van Kemenade scored in the opening 25-seconds of the second. For the rest of the game, Haize Brightnose (39/39) and Patrick Curtis (68/70) were stellar. Brightnose would go on to post his first career CSSHL shutout while Curtis posted an immaculate 68-saves, giving Prairie a chance as the game chugged on.
Ontario Hockey Academy (3) vs Lower Canada College (5) East U17
Following a scoreless first, OHA and LCC would trade goals early in the second. However, LCC’s special teams would get to work on both ends of the spectrum as Lukas Royko (2G, 3A) scored shorthanded and Matthew D’Urso (1G, 2A) scored on the powerplay, establishing a 3-1 lead into the third. LCC’s Frankie Bertucci (2G) would net two in the span of 31-seconds early in the frame, ultimately putting this game to rest. Royko chipped in on each of LCC’s five goals while Alessandro Sforza (29/32) made 29-saves between the pipes.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (1) U17
Aiden Andrews (1G, 1A) opened the scoring just 52-seconds into play for RHA Kelowna. Through the next two frames, RHA Kelowna would pile on another three unanswered, stretching their lead to 4-0 entering the third. Ewan Torrance would snap William Stewart’s (29/30) shutout, but RHA Kelowna would continue to comfortably stroll to a 5-1 victory in Delta, BC.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) vs Edge School (2) U17
Darius Odermatt (1G, 1A) would give Edge the initial lead in a tightly knit affair versus RHA Winnipeg. Scoring would take a hiatus in the second as RHA Winnipeg goaltender, Grayson McDonald (32/34) steered away 13-shots in the frame. RHA Winnipeg mustered seven shots on goal in the final period of play but couldn’t find an answer to Mikai Mast (17/17) who went on to record 17-saves in the shutout victory. Austin Jeffries would later supply the insurance marker for Edge in the late stages of the game.
Notre Dame (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) U17 Prep
RHA Winnipeg opened up their offensive output with a shorthanded goal off the stick of Peyton Thiessen (2G, 1A). Sam Grunewald would double their lead before Joe Watson snuck one in for Notre Dame. However, RHA Winnipeg would close out the first with two quick goals to bring their lead to 4-1. Elijah Rempel and Dax Laplante would nab another rapid two for RHA Winnipeg at the start of the second, burying the Hounds into a 6-1 deficit. Teams would trade goals once more heading into the end of the second before a scoreless third closed out the contest. Brady Robert (36/38) made 36-saves for RHA Winnipeg in the Saturday victory.
OHA Edmonton (7) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) U15 Prep
Artello Forestal (4G) continued his hot-streak early, scoring the first two goals in this matchup to give OHA Edmonton the lead through twenty. However, NAX’s offence would come to life after the ice clean as Luka Samu (2G, 3A) ignited a five goal frame for the Xtreme. In a busy but even third, Forestal would manage to hit the four goal mark while Fahler, AB’s Teagen Bouchard (3G, 1A) completed his hat-trick. Other notable performances included OHA Edmonton’s Chayse Fedoriuk (1G, 3A) picking up four points from the blueline and Samu’s five point outing with NAX.
Bourget College (1) vs Stanstead College (5) East U18
With an early powerplay opportunity, Ian Burnett was able to grant Bourget the initial lead in this contest. However, 2009-born defender Malik L’Italien would put Stanstead on the board in the latter half of the first, tying this match up at 1-1. Stanstead would continue to thrive in the second as Oliver Plante and Kamyl Chemrouk (1G, 1A) picked up tallies to give the Spartans the advantage heading into the third. Bourget would outshoot Stanstead in the final frame but couldn’t find an answer to beat Jack Carter (34/35) as he would be perfect after surrendering the lone goal in the first. Stanstead would add another two in the late stages of this contest, wrapping up their win over the number one ranked Bourget College.
Edge School (6) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
The dynamic duo of Izayah Zaharko (2G, 1A) and Ashton McCann (2G, 1A) were the driving force behind Edge School’s Saturday triumph over Pilot Mound. Zaharko netted the game’s first goal and eventual game winner while McCann supplied the insurance markers with a pair late in the second. Eric Wagman (3A) also chipped in with three assists while Kurtis Stajkowski (29/31) backed up Edge in goal.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (12) vs Notre Dame (1) U18 Prep
Not a single SAHA skater was left off the scoresheet in Saturday’s win over Notre Dame. Point wise, Avery Watson (4A) led the charge with a four point afternoon while five other skaters all secured three points each. Mattias Radke (14/15) got to enjoy the win from his crease, picking up 14-saves in the process, improving SAHA’s record to 4-4-0.
Balmoral Hall School (3) vs Edge School (7) Female U18 Prep
Edge School gave Balmoral Hall something to worry about early in this contest as they jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first. Maddie Kaiser (1G, 1A) was able to cut the deficit down to one in the tail end of the frame. However, Edge School’s offence kept pouring on the chances as they would tally another three unanswered goals in the second. Once again right at the end of the period, Balmoral Hall would get one back. Although at this point, the game was in the firm grasp of Edge as they’d bury another two in the third to stifle Balmoral’s perfect record on the season. Brooklyn Deck (2G, 1A) scored twice for Edge while Abby Lee (4A) racked up four assists in the win.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) Female U18 Prep
Morgan Barenz (1G, 1A) was able to give RHA Winnipeg the early lead with Attica Sobering (1G, 2A) adding to the tally late in the frame. However, Keyana Bert (1G, 2A) would give SAHA some life late, cutting the deficit to one before the clock ticked zero. Early in the second, Kamryn Reiber would tie the game for SAHA. Later in the period, RHA Winnipeg would get back in front after a powerplay marker from Payton Chornley (1G, 1A). RHA Winnipeg went on to run away with this one in the third as they potted another two to put this one out of reach for SAHA. Ava Hrebeniuk scored the ultimate game winner while Maggie Schell (23/26) picked up the win between the pipes.
Fort Erie International Academy (6) vs King’s Edgehill School (4) East U18
King’s Edgehill got off to the perfect start, scoring three unanswered through the first thirty minutes of play. However, Fort Erie would find their stride just past the halfway point of this game starting with a goal from Brady Wharram (1G, 1A). Wharram’s goal would ignite a four goal swing for Fort Erie as they’d take the lead early in the third. Jack Sangster was able to tie things up for King’s Edgehill part way through the third but Fort Erie’s offence prevailed once again as Jason Haraphongse quickly restored their lead. Ethan Butler (2G) would add the insurance marker at the end of the frame, wrapping up the comeback victory for Fort Erie.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (4) vs OHA Edmonton (9) U18 Prep
OHA Edmonton’s offence caught aflame early, scoring five times in the first period alone including a highlight reel effort from Parker Fitzgerald (2G). OHA Edmonton would run up the score in the second up to 7-0 before Pilot Mound got on to the scoresheet thanks to Brenden Reeve. Pilot Mound’s powerplay would go on to strike for another three goals until the horn sounded but the damage OHA Edmonton made in the first was too much to surmount. Nolan Schmidt (2G) and Callum MacLean (2G) each skated off with a pair of goals in OHA Edmonton’s victory.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (7) U18 Prep
NAX’s offence was able to match RHA Winnipeg every step of the way throughout three periods in this contest. Jake Walker (2G) and Maddox Rose (2G) each tallied a pair for NAX while Ben Deacon (3A) supplied three assists on the afternoon. Tyler Swanson (19/22) made 19-saves in the winning effort while Nolan Giles (44/51) made a respectable 44-saves in the loss.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (8) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) Female U18 Prep
Despite the score, OHA was able to keep a back-and-forth motion with RHA Kelowna in terms of shots, getting edged out 43-32. Hayley McDonald (4G) was the key difference maker for RHA Kelowna, potting four goals on the afternoon while Emelia McDermid (2G, 2A) racked up four points as well. In goal, Jaya Schippel (32/32) stopped all 32-shot attempts by OHA to register her second shutout of the season.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (3) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) Female U18 Prep
Delta Green’s London McDavid scored the lone goal in the first to grant her team the early advantage. This lead would double in the second as Emma Kohl potted her first of the campaign. In a tightly knit third, Taya Lonsdale would break the goose egg and get Shawnigan on the scoresheet but despite an impressive late push, Delta Green prevailed. Erica Barnard would go on to net the EN goal as Maisie Cope (27/28) made 27-saves for Delta Green between the pipes.
St. George’s School (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) U18 Prep
After surrendering the games first two tallies to PCHA in the first. St. George’s would come flying out the gates in the middle frame. London Taylor (3G) got things kicked off on the powerplay, igniting a chain of five unanswered for the Saints. Taylor would go on to secure a hat-trick in the period while Harshaan Kaila (1G, 2A) chipped in three-points of his own. The third would see no scoring as Carter Adams (43/45) played perfect following the first period, turning aside 43-shots through the sixty minute mission.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep
Both teams came flying out the gate Saturday as they each scored four times in the first period. Calder Hutt (1G, 2A) scored 1:03 in and teammates Zee Jamal, Kasen Harold and Hunter Kelso (1G, 1A) added goals for CIHA. Griffin Horne (1G, 1A), Grant Gliege, Henry Thunderblanket, and Hudson Thiessen responded for Prairie as the two teams went shot for shot in the opening 20. Noah Kelly scored 2:22 into the second to put Prairie ahead 5-4 in a game that seemed destined to hit double digit goals on each side. But both teams would lock it down defensively over the final 37.5 minutes as the game ended 5-4 in Prairies favour.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) vs Edge School (9) U15 Prep
Edge scored eight straight goals to open the game en route to an eventual 9-1 victory. Defenseman Remy Koch (2G) and Drew Wilkinson (2G) each scored twice while Drake Davis (2A), Jayden Maschke (2A) and Easton Perzylo (2A) all added two assists. Zac Howell scored the lone RHA Winnipeg goal, beating Delano Pockar (31/32) in the second period.
Yale Hockey Academy (12) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15 Prep
Yale scored 12 goals with defensemen Christopher Kokkoris (5A) and Tryson Edwards (4A) providing the majority of the offence, pacing the team in points. Michael Kuzik (2G) and Nicholas Voinea (2G, 1A) each scored twice with Mason Sutherland (12/13) making 12 saves for the win. Jackson Squire scored the lone Pacific Coast goal, shorthanded 43 seconds into the second.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (8) U17 Prep
A great individual effort by Luke Assi (3G) late in the first gave OHA a 1-0 lead heading into the second. Assi would score again 1:11 into the second to give OHA a 2-0 advantage. Wenatchee would tie the game with two goals in 2:09 as Cooper Miller buried a shot from the slot and Sean Strasser kept the puck and scored himself on a 2-on-1. Aneil Dhesi restored the lead late in the second before OHA exploded for five in the third period with Marcus Domhof (2G, 2A) scoring twice, Landon Nagle (1G, 1A) and Jacob Leamy once each, and Assi again late to complete the hat-trick.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (8) vs King Heights Academy (4) East U18
Philippe Walsh (2G) gave OHO a first period lead but Roman Morillas tied the game 49 seconds later and Aikem Khehra (1G, 1A) gave King Heights the advantage going into the second. OHO would start the second with four straight as Alex Brown (2G, 1A), Parker Fergusson, Tom Boudet (1G, 2A) and Eric Hartwig all found the back of the net. Murad Safarov (1G, 2A) halted the run before Walsh and Vytas Lenkutis (1G, 1A) traded goals late in the period. Brown and Alessandro Raponi (1G, 1A) added third period goals as OHO doubled-up KHA 8-4. Kristian Olsen-Makdessian (37/41) made 37 saves for the win.
STAR Hockey Academy (3) vs BWC Academy (9) U15
Backed by a five goal first period and six straight goals BWC Academy defeated STAR 9-3. Nathan DaSilva (3G, 1A) recorded a hat-trick while Wyatt Lowther (3A) added three assists in the win. Riley O’Brien, Mason Olson and Josh Rzonca all scored for STAR in the loss. Jordan Bigelow (30/33) made 30 saves to earn the win, his fourth in five games this season.
Yale Hockey Academy (4) vs St. George’s School (0) U15
Lucca Tassone (23/23) made 23 saves to earn his first career shutout and keep a perfect 5-0-0 record, as Yale (9-0-0) remains undefeated on the season. Mykah Cormier scored the game winning goal 13:46 into the first period. Lukas Bachler and Kaleb Newson scored 56 seconds apart in the second and Max Ritchey (1G, 1A) added a third period marker to round out the scoring for Yale in a 4-0 win. Jonah Gamble (42/46) made 42 saves in the loss.
Indigenous Sports Academy (1) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (7) U17 Prep
Hunter Toth and Chaunde Jack traded early goals as the game was tied 1-1 with 6:04 left in the first. From there, Prairie would score six unanswered to grab a 7-1 win over their provincial rival. Jamie Kirwan (1G, 2A) and Seamus Dillon (1G, 2A) scored in the first, Luke Pratte (1G, 1A) in the second, and Kade Kahovec, Nixon Friesen and Dane Chalupa added third period markers to round out the scoring.
Delta Hockey Academy (6) vs Shawnigan Lake School (4) U18 Prep
Thierry Demeres scored his third of the season to open the scoring but Ryder Dunn (2G) quickly responded for Delta 1:05 later. Jake Bartlett gave Delta the lead in the second before Nolan Blankstein (1G, 1A) and Jack Tudhope (1G, 1A) traded goals in the back half of the second. Wylie Wen (1G, 1A) tied the game 3:59 into the final period before Dunn responded quickly again 46 seconds later. Nate Barclay doubled the lead midway through the period as Delta grabbed some breathing room. Shawnigan wouldn’t go away quietly as Ryan Turner’s seventh of the season brought them within one with five minutes to play. Ashton Thornton (42/46) denied Shawnigan of the comeback opportunity and Jaiven Mann added an insurance marker with eight seconds remaining as Delta got back in the win column.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (7) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U17
OHA scored 2:01 in as Rocklen Stordy (1G, 1A) scored his second goal of the season. Kaelen Rusjan (2G) and Hagan Purinton replied for Pacific Coast before Beckham Taggart (1G, 1A) levelled the score before the first came to a close. Ollie Halowaty restored the OHA lead 1:43 into the second with his fourth of the season. Rusjan tied the game with a power play marker but Gage Kiselbach (1G, 1A) replied for OHA 16 seconds later. Owen Bate added another PCHA power play goal to even things up but OHA replied with two second period power play goals of their own as Luke Edgehouse and Lucan Kostiuk each found the back of the net. Cooper Vogt (1G, 1A) scored the lone third period goal as OHA grabbed a 7-4 win over Pacific Coast Saturday night.
Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3/OT) U18 Prep
After a scoreless first 20 Eli Tverdovsky (1G, 1A) scored 5:46 into the second to give OHA the initial lead. Dylan Crossley tied the game less than four minutes later with his second goal of the campaign. Bradley Schmidt restored the OHA lead early in the third but Bode Drew scored 10 minutes later as Wenatchee once again tied the game, forcing overtime. In OT Charlie Grant would play the role of hero for OHA as he scored his ninth of the season 2:20 into the extra frame. Ben Hakes (20/22) and Nathaniel Madrigal (53/56) were in net for their respective teams.
St. George’s School (3) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U15 Prep
St. George’s (4-4-0) ended a three game skid with a 3-0 shutout victory over North Shore (1-7-2). Joffrey Chan (13/13) and Elias Mitrikas (66/69) kept clean sheets in the first as the game remained scoreless heading into the second. Louis Oscar Holowaychuk (1G, 1A) opened the scoring with his 12th of the season 1:47 into the second. Noah Fowler and Freddie Brooks-Hill chipped in with second period goals of their own before a scoreless third period saw the game end 3-0 in favour of St. George’s.
Yale Hockey Academy (2) vs BWC Academy (4) U18 Prep
Jonathan Bitonti and Hunter Ashton (1G, 1A) scored 35 seconds apart midway through the first as BWC Academy held a 2-0 advantage after 20. Gianni Bosa (2G, 1A) added to the lead early in the second before a Shaun Hildebrandt power play marker got Yale on the board late in the period. Matthew Dowdall brought Yale within one just 1:01 into the final period but Bosa ended any comeback dreams with a goal 10:22 later as BWC Academy defeated Yale 4-2 in the final game Saturday night. Noah Sinagowitz (40/42) and Nathan Kam (35/39) each made 35-plus stops in net.
