Edge School (3) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (4/OT) U17 Prep
Kyle Oakenfold (2G) opened the scoring late in the first with an Edge power play goal. Ashton McCann (1G, 1A) extended the lead early in the second with his 21st goal of the year. Aedan McCarry (2G, 2A) got CIHA on the board midway through second before he traded power play goals with Oakenfold to wrap up the period. Trailing by a goal and with the net empty, defenseman Jacob Balaberda (2G) scored his second of the year to tie the game and force overtime. In OT Balaberda would complete the CIHA comeback and give his team a 4-3 win, despite never leading in the game. Ethan Mann (27/30) and Adam Courchesne (37/41) were in net for their respective teams.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) vs RHA Winnipeg (12) U18 Prep
Jake Ritson (3G, 1A) and Layne Schofield (3G, 2A) each recorded hat-tricks while River Arnason (1G, 4A) took the scoring lead with a 4 point effort, giving him 38 on the season, as RHA Winnipeg defeated Pilot Mound 12-3. Max Dowse (3A), Carter Haney (1G, 2A) and Cohen Lewko (1G, 2A) all chipped in with three points in the victory. Leonardo Begert, Briggs Olson and Brenden Reeve scored for Pilot Mound in the loss.
RHA Winnipeg (4/SO) vs St. Mary’s Academy (3) Female U18 Prep
RHA Winnipeg (9-7-1) earned a 4-3 shootout win over St. Mary’s (5-6-2) Wednesday evening. Sydney Stibbard and Payton Henwood (1G, 1A) traded goals early in the first. Ava Hrubeniuk (1G, 1A) would restore the RHA Winnipeg lead 2:20 later and a Payton Chornley power play goal put RHA Winnipeg ahead by two going into the second. Maggie Schell (37/40) and Sasha Coutu (34/37) kept clean sheets in the second as it remained a two goal spread heading into the final 20. In the third Camryn Falloon and Peyton Mages (1G, 1A) scored less than three minutes apart to tie the game and force overtime. After OT solved nothing, Chornley and Rowyn Street both scored in the shootout and Schell stopped all three St. Mary’s shooters to give RHA Winnipeg the victory.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs RHA Kelowna (2) U18 Prep
The lone game Thursday saw Simon Cecconi (1G, 2A) open the scoring in the first with his fourth of the season. Ryan Sadovia tied the game early in the second before Bradley Schmidt (2G, 1A) restored the lead midway through the frame. Riley Pederson levelled the score again but Cohen Handby scored the go-ahead marker 48 seconds later, with five seconds left in the period. The third belonged to OHA as they outshot RHA Kelowna 14-5 and got early period goals from Schmidt and Linkin Stadnek. Tucker Robertson (1G, 1A) added a late empty netter to secure the win and Chayse Johnson (27/29) made 27 saves to improve to 8-1-0.
Rink Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs OHA Edmonton (1) U15
Haize Brightnose (59/60) and Connor Phillips (21/23) kept clean sheets in a first period that saw OHA Edmonton outshoot RHA Winnipeg 20-7. The majority of the play in the second period would again take place in the RHA Winnipeg end as OHA Edmonton fired 23 shots on net. They would finally break through with 4:07 left in the second when Kane Strudwick buried a rebound in front. Josh Harvey would tie the game 6:32 into the third, and despite being outshot 17-11 in the period, RHA Winnipeg would grab the lead when Ryder Olford scored his 12th of the season with 4:50 remaining. Eli Wasylyk added an empty net goal with 15 seconds left as RHA Winnipeg stole the 3-1 win.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (4) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) U15
Taegeon Park’s (2G) 14th goal of the season 3:03 in gave Delta Black a 1-0 lead but the two teams would head into the intermission all squared at 1-1 as Hudson Elke (3G) scored his eighth of the year. Jake Gagno added a power play marker 3:26 into the second to put Delta Black back on top. Elke briefly tied the game midway through the second but Park responded just 10 seconds later. Samuel Hioe doubled the lead early in the third period with a power play marker, his third goal of the season. Elke would complete the hat-trick with a later power play goal but Pacific Coast was unable to find an equaliser as Brayden Allan (28/31) finished with 28 saves. Shay Van Slyke (55/59) made 55 saves in the loss.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U17 Prep
Porter Rossi scored just 17 seconds in and Joshua Johnstone added his 15th midway through the frame as RHA Kelowna led 2-0 after 20. OHA would flip the script in the second as Landon Nagle (1G, 1A) scored 1:44 into the period and Aneil Dhesi (2G) scored twice in less than three minutes to give his team the lead. Nate MacPhee (1G, 1A) hit double digit goals on the season to tie the game early in the third period. But Maxx Parfitt (2G, 1A) scored the game winner midway through the final frame and added a power play goal 5:15 later. Marcus Domhof (1G, 1A) scored an empty netter to round out the scoring and give OHA the 6-3 win. Charlie Peppinck (32/35) and Asher Netherton (37/42) were in net for their respective teams.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (9) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) U15 Prep
Ahmad Fayad (2G, 2A) and Cruz Jim (2G, 1A) each scored twice to lead NAX to a 9-1 win. Teagen Bouchard (1G, 2A), Kalen Miles (1G, 2A), Parker Naumann, Joel Ngandu and Luka Samu (1G, 2A) added the other goals for NAX in the victory. Athens Shingoose scored the lone RHA Winnipeg goal, ending the Dawson Sheehan (25/26) shutout bid with 15 minutes left in the game.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) U18 Prep
Affiliate player Avery Hewson opened the scoring 6:09 in and a power play goal from Nicholas Morin (2G) saw North Shore lead 2-0. Simon Cecconi (2G) had a quick response for OHA as he scored 1:15 later to get his team within one heading into the second. Morin and Cecconi would trade power play goals 2:07 apart late in the second as it remained a one goal lead heading into the third. Defenseman Liam Kilfoil would add an insurance marker with 19 seconds left, scoring his fourth goal of the season. Georgi Milanov (31/33) finished with 31 saves to earn the victory.
Delta Hockey Academy White (3/OT) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U15
Colby Walker scored 51 seconds in and Jayden Ni (2G) scored his 25th of the year late in the period to give Delta White a 2-0 lead. Oliver Demarco would respond for North Shore 1:01 later before a scoreless second saw the third period start with Delta White up one. Mattias Gallina would tie the game midway through the third with a power play goal, forcing overtime. In OT Ni’s league leading 26th goal one minute in gave Delta White the 3-2 win. Cohen Wood (24/26) and Benjamin Boudreau (45/48) were in net for their respective teams.
Prairie Hockey Academy (6) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (2) U17 Prep
ISA opened the scoring 1:23 in with Carsen Chipesia’s (1G, 1A) fourth of the year but Prairie led 3-1 after 20 as Dan Chalupa (1G, 1A), Lucas Romaniuk and Luke Pratte (1G, 1A) all found the back of the net. Seamus Dillon (2G, 2A) extended the lead 38 seconds into the second, though Jonel Daychief countered 49 seconds later. Lucas Graham and Dillon added goals to close out the second. Karter Hillbig (23/25) and Holden Fauchon (48/54) kept clean sheets in the final 20 as the third ended just like it started, 6-2 in favour of Prairie.
St. George’s School (3) vs Yale Hockey Academy (4/OT) U17 Prep
The first period ended tied 1-1 as Matteo Di Stefano (2G, 1A) scored for Yale and Ishaan Sharma replied for St. George’s. Nicholas Liu gave St. George’s their first lead midway through the second before Daniel Havard (1G, 1A) and Max Bergeron (1G, 1A) traded goals to close out the period. Gavin Selinger scored the lone goal in the third to even the score and force overtime where Di Stefano scored 56 seconds in to give Yale the 4-3 victory. Jason Ho (38/41) made 38 saves to record the win while Mathias Dishneau (29/33) was charged with the loss.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) vs Edge School (14) U15
A landslide victory for Edge included three shorthanded goals on the scoresheet. Luke Tschetter (4G) netted two of those in part of a four goal outing. Luke Bodtker (2G, 1A), Cade Mazurski (2G, 1A) Brody Antignani (1G, 2A) and Easton Armstrong (3A) each picked up three points in the win.
Notre Dame (1) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (16) U15
Led by a five goal, six point effort from Easton Mattersdorfer (5G, 1A), NAX would steamroll their way to a 16-1 victory over Notre Dame. Jett Evans (3G, 4A) would also post an impressive seven points on the afternoon while six other skaters recorded at least three points. Grayson Scriba (14/15) was in the cage for the win, only being beaten once by Notre Dame’s Denali Okemow with his first of the season.
OHA Edmonton (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
Pilot Mound would get the early jump on OHA Edmonton capitalising on two quick rushes to start the first. However, OHA Edmonton would be able to tie things up in the final minutes of the opening frame as Brayden Tucker (1G, 1A) and Anderson Reschny would find twine. In the second, OHA Edmonton wouldn’t take the lead until the latter moments as Austin Blackmore (1G, 1A) polished off a slick passing play. OHA Edmonton’s lead would only grow in the third as they kept piling shots on Gavin Hildebrand (73/78). They would garner another two but Hildebrand would post an impressive 73-saves in the losing effort.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (0) vs Yale Hockey Academy (1) U15 Prep
In a low scoring affair, both goalies would remain perfect through twenty minutes of play. It wasn’t until the late moments of the second where Tony Cabelka would make a strong move to his forehand before sliding one past Rio Manhas (36/37). In the third, nothing was getting through. Manhas would post another 15-saves to give PCHA a chance at overtime but the stellar goaltending of Mason Sutherland (29/29) kept Yale on top. Sutherland would go on to stop 29-shots for his first shutout of the season, bringing Yale to a 12-5-0-1 record.
Shawnigan Lake School (3) vs BWC Academy (1) U17 Prep
Sullivan Bryan would polish off a sweet dish from Ryder Kerr to establish the initial lead for Shawnigan part way through the first. A few minutes later, McAllister Mugford would tally his fourth of the season with a far side shot to extend Shawnigan’s lead. Into the second, Samuel Wilson would hold and shoot on an odd-man rush to make things 3-0. BWC Academy was throwing everything they could on goal but the stellar play of Stefan Kostin (49/50) was holding them at bay. Oleksii Zhekov would eventually break the goose egg, tapping home a pretty passing play for BWC Academy. BWC Academy would send out the extra attacker late but couldn’t break Kostin again, leading to a 49-save win for the Spruce Grove, AB native.
South Alberta Hockey Academy (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2/OT) U17 Prep
No scoring would occur in this contest until the final period of play. SAHA’s Curtis Martin would get a point shot through for his first of the season to give his squad the initial lead. Later in the frame, Peyton Thiessen would grip it and rip it to tie things up for RHA Winnipeg, enough to eventually force overtime. Part way through the extra frame, Isaac Sousa would bury a feed from Brady Keith to grant RHA Winnipeg the victory. Chase Charriere (31/32) made 31-stops in the low scoring showdown and picked up the win between the pipes.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (5) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black (3) Female U18 Prep
After Haley Waugh (1G, 1A) got Delta Black off with the early lead, two point shots from OHA Black would find the back of their cage. Ellis Aubie and Megan Norrie were the beneficiaries on OHA Black’s tallies. However, Emma Biros (2G) would get Delta Black back in the game, tying things up before the end of the first. In the second, Jordyn Mailhot would put Delta Black back ahead with her first of the season. Delta Black would continue to build on that lead in the third, eventually ending this contest a score of 5-3. Nicole Fisher (30/33) made 30-saves in the win.
Stanstead College (6) vs Mount Academy (0) East U17
Stanstead College didn’t offer Mount Academy any wiggle room in this 6-0 victory. Cory Logan (2G, 1A) led the offence with a two goal performance while Emanuel Ganz (1G, 2A) and Hubert Melancon (3A) each produced three points each. Jonas Murrer (9/9) only faced nine shots for the shutout.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (2) U17
Seth Kshyk (2G, 2A) got NAX on the board only 39-seconds into play while Clayton Toews doubled the lead before the end of the first. Kashton Smith (1G, 1A) gave Prairie a fighting chance, getting them on the scoresheet halfway through the second. However, Braeden Malenchak would restore NAX’s two goal lead a few minutes later. A late goal from Jake Myhre (1G, 1A) would once again re-kindle Prairie’s chances heading into the third. PHA would outshoot NAX 10-9 in the final frame but couldn’t find an answer for Parker Sneazwell (26/28). Sneazwell would post 26-saves to keep NAX in front while Kshyk capped it all off with an empty netter, completing a four point night in the process as well.
Bishop’s College School (2) vs Ontario Hockey Academy (3) East U18
Following a scoreless first, Danny Kananga would get OHA on the board part way through the second despite being outshot 19-7 in the opening frame. Come the third, Dmitrii Novikov (2G) would post another tally for OHA to extend their lead. Bishop’s would eventually find the back of the cage halfway through the third with Tristan Gagnon’s ninth of the season. With the goalie pulled early, Novikov would bury one to restore OHA’s two goal lead. Elie Champagne would get one back for Bishop’s with 11-seconds remaining but it was too little too late. In the end, Rafael Tremblay (46/48) would prove to be the hero, posting 46-saves in the win.
OHA Edmonton (6) vs Notre Dame (4) U17
Jordan Van Langen opened the scoring for Notre Dame with an impressive solo effort. However, OHA Edmonton would respond with a pair, including an old-time slapshot off the rush from Jayden Squissato. Both teams would trade goals on separate occasions to end the first and second, leading up to a 4-3 OHA Edmonton lead to start the third. In the final frame, a pair from Noah Stone (2G, 1A) was able to propel OHA Edmonton to victory. Jaxon Ford (29/33) picked up the win in goal, steering aside 29-shots from the Hounds.
Delta Hockey Academy (3) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) U18 Prep
In his return to U18 Prep action, Jordan Ramsay (2G) netted a pair of goals to give PCHA a 2-1 lead through twenty. Recently signed Tri-City Americans prospect Alexander Laing would tie things up late in the second but Trace Anderson (1G, 1A) would immediately respond to put PCHA back ahead. Into the third, PCHA would tally three unanswered to establish a 6-2 lead. Jack Morgan (1G, 1A) would net his first with the U18 Prep squad to soften Delta’s loss late. Liam Russell (21/24) made a humble 21-saves in the PCHA win.
OHA Edmonton (3) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (4) Female U18 Prep
Kyla Pappas would get OHA Edmonton ahead early but a quick response from Teylor Crocker immediately brought things back to even. Into the second, Keyana Bert (1G, 1A) would give SAHA their first lead of the game and they’d hold onto it heading into the final frame. Peyton Carter (1G, 2A) would tie things up for OHA Edmonton just 27-seconds into play but a quick pair of SAHA goals off the sticks of Julie Barlow and Sophie Erlam would restore SAHA’s advantage. Carter would score shorthanded late in the game for OHA Edmonton but it would come one shy of forcing a chance in overtime.
Balmoral Hall School (6) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (3) Female U18 Prep
Brannagh Rae rifled home the early go ahead marker for Balmoral Hall, enough to take the lead into the second. Early in the second, Pilot Mound would catch a hot streak as McKayla Romano (1G, 1A) and Jorja Atkinson would give the Buffaloes a 2-1 lead. Part way through the frame, Maddie Kaiser (1G, 2A) would net the game tying goal. In the third, Balmoral Hall would find their groove as Madeline McKay (2G, 1A) scored twice in the opening five minutes to create a two goal lead. Ashlyn Kuffler’s shot from the hashmarks would trickle though to cut PMHA’s deficit down to one but a quick response from Emma Power restored Balmoral Hall’s momentum, ultimately handing them the victory.
Prairie Hockey Academy (10) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (0) U18 Prep
Hubert Larose (4G) led an offensive charge from Prairie, scoring four goals to get up to 14 on the season. Henry Thunderblanket (1G, 3A) would chip in for four points as well with emphasis on the playmaking. Micah Davidson (24/24) made 24-stops in the win for his second shutout of the season.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Edge School (10) U18 Prep
Edge School put their offence on full display in our CSSHL Featured Game as they were up against the statistical top offence in U18 Prep, RHA Winnipeg. Things in the first started off even with each team potting a pair of goals before the buzzer sounded. Tensions would flare in the second and that’s when Edge found their offensive touch. Jeff Niehaus (2G) would pot a pair in just over two minutes, including a shorthanded tally. Cohen Lewko would get one back on the powerplay soon after but Edge would close the second frame with another two unanswered off the sticks of Ethan Elefante (2G, 1A) and Nick Wytrychowski (1G, 1A). Edge would continue to roll in the third as another three would find the back of the net. Ryley Budd (16/19) picked up his fifth win of the season in the dominant win while Mirco Dufour (1G, 6A) garnered an immense seven points.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3/OT) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (2) U18 Prep
A jam play in front from Ben Deacon (1G, 2A) got NAX on the board first, resulting in a lead that they would carry into the second. In the middle frame, a pair of goals from Luke Ruptash (2G) would put SAHA in front. However, Carter Ellsworth (2G) would tap in a goal in the final minute of the period to make this one tied before the ice clean. After a scoreless third, overtime was necessary. SAHA would take a penalty in the extra frame and it would come back to bite them as Ellsworth buried home a feed from Liam Eisnor to put this game to rest. In goal, Tyler Swanson (25/27) picked up the win, steering 25-shots away from goal to keep his perfect record intact.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) Female U18 Prep
Jillian McLaughlin and Kennedy Sisson (2G) would open up the scoring for RHA Kelowna with goals only 60-seconds apart. Sisson would add to RHA Kelowna’s lead later in the second, rifling home her second of the evening. Come the third, Leah Hill would score a fantastic individual effort to get Shawnigan Lake on the scoresheet, but a quick response by Emelia McDermid thwarted any chance of a comeback. Ava Drabyk (27/28) posted 27-saves in the win, snatching her eighth win between the pipes this season.
Delta Hockey Academy Green (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) Female U18 Prep
Niayah Morris was able to establish the early lead for Delta Green, giving them the lead through twenty. Tiani Makokis would bring things back to even in the second before a Kailey Wigglesworth hit shattered a pane of glass right by the scorekeeper’s box. To close out the second, Preston Gabriel would give OHA their first lead of the match. Into the third, Emma Deleurme would put OHA ahead by two early on. However, Delta Green would garner some momentum part way through the frame after Gabriella Lee (1G, 1A) found twine. In the final three minutes, Saya Earl would slide home the game tying goal, looking to force overtime. However, a wicked wrister from Audrey Church (1G, 1A) put Delta Green ahead with only 1:50 left on the clock. OHA would push with the goalie pulled but couldn’t solve Maisie Cope (34/37) in the final seconds as Delta Green would go on to complete the comeback in this nail biting affair at the OHTC.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (1) vs BWC Academy (6) U15 Prep
Despite Gage Marks giving OHA the 1-0 lead part way through the first, BWC Academy would find their groove as the game chugged on. Kenzo Gibson would get BWC Academy on the board in the opening half of the second and was quickly followed up by Cohen Baker (3G) and Logan Henry (1G, 3A). BWC Academy would add another three unanswered in the third to cement their victory. Bentley Edgar (23/24) picked up the win between the pipes, coming one shot shy off the elusive shutout.
