Kuper Academy (11) vs Mount Academy (2) East U17 Prep
It took Adamo Ersoni (2G, 1A) just 47 seconds to score the first goal of the 2025/26 CSSHL season as he tipped home a Levi Kolesnikow point shot. Gianfranco Capparelli (1G, 1A) added a power play marker 33 seconds later as part of a six goal opening period for Kuper Academy. Ethan Lowther would get Mount on the board 8:02 into the second with a power play goal but goals 15 seconds apart from Alexander Beck (1G, 2A) and Gavyn Thomas (1G, 1A) put Kuper well in command. Alexis Chiasson got one back for Mount early in the third but it was quickly countered by Ersoni. Thomas Issa (3G) wrapped up the scoring with his hat-trick goal late in the game. Matteo Valluzzi (12/14) made 12 saves while Angelo Jr Colletti (1G, 6A) recorded a game high 7 points in the win.
Yale Hockey Academy (3/OT) vs Delta Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
The U15 Prep division’s season saw just one game on the first weekend, featuring two teams coming off solid 2024-25 campaigns, but with new faces up and down both lineups. DHA goaltender Brayden Allen’s CSSHL debut was far from a leisurely outing, saving all 17 YHA shots he faced in the first twenty minutes, keeping things tied for his players to take over as things continued. It took Delta until nearly the halfway point of the second period to finally break the deadlock, with Taegon Park (1G, 1A) doing the legwork to set up Ryan Pickell’s goal on a two-on-one rush. The next time around, Park wasn’t moving the puck, with the rookie collecting in the neutral zone and dazzling his way through Yale’s defences to make it 2-0. Despite Yale controlling the first period, Delta had the game in their hands by the time 40 minutes had elapsed, meaning YHA needed a spark to try to fight back in the third period. The lifeline was provided by two of Yale’s returnees clicking on a short-handed goal. Parker McMillan’s (2G, 1A) forecheck freed the puck up for Teagan Dernisky (1G, 2A) to steal and score, dragging the game back within one. McMillan wasn’t close to being done there, though. He’d square things up at two with 55 seconds left in the third period, and wasted no time in overtime, scoring to win the game after merely 15 seconds of the extra frame. McMillan, Dernsky, and Tyson Wolanski (3A) all popped up with three points apiece for Yale, but it was returning goaltender Gavin Craig who was the unsung hero, making 39 saves on 41 shots and making all 12 third-period saves required to help Yale to the eventual victory.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (6) U15
Mason Hostyn (1G, 1A) gave the home side a 1-0 lead 5:08 into their first game of the season. Jett Menzies levelled the score 4:49 later with an unassisted power play marker. Delta White took over in the second as Parker Fast, Cruz Natt (1G, 1A) and Noah Yoo (1G, 1A) all scored their first goal of the campaign. Sajan Chatha gave Delta White a commanding 5-1 lead early in the third period. Landen Gray got one back for RHA Kelowna with a rocket of a shot off the rush that beat Logan Wagner (31/33) but a late Grayson Sears marker secured the Delta White win. Luke Kochhar (29/35) made 29 saves in the loss.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (2) vs Fort Erie International Academy (8) East U17 Prep
Vladimir Palash (1G, 1A) and Thomas Garland (2G) traded goals in the first half of the opening period before Jayden Goolab (1G, 1A) restored the Fort Erie lead with a shorthanded marker late in the frame. Ilia Sokurenko doubled the lead with just 35 seconds remaining in the period and second period goals from Charles-Antoine Racette and Zachary Girard (1G, 1A) put Fort Erie in total control. Matvei Zakharov (2G, 2A) added an early third period goal before he and Garland traded goals, each scoring their second of the game. Alexis Timbro (1G, 1A) rounded out the scoring by tallying his first of the season with 28 seconds left.
STAR Hockey Academy (5) vs Delta Hockey Academy (7) U17
A power play goal from Saajun Aujila gave Delta a 1-0 lead 6:45 into the game. Jack Adsit got STAR on the board less than four minutes later before Brady Olson (2G, 1A) and Graham Gerritz traded goals to close out the first. STAR thought they had taken the lead early in the second but the goal was waved off, leading to back-to-back Delta goals from Olson and Peyton May (2G, 1A). Brody Lukinbill halted the run just 1:07 later, bringing STAR within one heading into the third. Graeme Burke (2G) restored the two goal cushion early in the third period with his first of the season, but STAR refused to go away quietly. Ronin Brunner (2G, 1A) would kick-start the comeback, scoring twice from nearly identical spots on the blocker side of Lucas Disiewich (28/33). But Brunner’s efforts went to waste as Burke gave Delta the lead 1:24 later and May added an empty netter in the final seconds of the game as the home side claimed a 7-5 victory.
Kuper Academy (16) vs Mount Academy (2) East U17 Prep
After scoring 11 goals on opening day Kuper Academy followed that up with 16 in their rematch win over Mount Academy. Power play goals from Angelo Jr Colletti (4G) and Adamo Ersoni (2G, 2A) saw Kuper lead 2-0 after 20. Mitchell Goodine and Levi Kolesnikow traded goals a minute apart early in the second before Noah Richard brought Mount within one a couple minutes later. But that was as close as they would get as Kuper rode a 10 goal third period en route to the 16-2 victory. Gianfranco Capparelli (2G, 4A) paced the Kuper offence with six points, while defenseman Luca De Pastena (1G, 3A) added four of his own.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (6) vs BWC Academy (5) U15
Bentley Gillis (1G, 1A) opened the scoring just 24 seconds into the game as Delta Black grabbed an early lead. Kevin Goodale (1G, 1A) would double the lead 2:17 later as he scored on a sharp angle off a power play rush attempt. Mitchell Wilson (1G, 1A) would get BWC Academy on the board midway through the frame before Goodale scored an end to end shorthanded marker to restore the two goal cushion. Cooper McBride scored BWC Academy’s second power play goal of the game 24 seconds into the second and a Chase Henderson (1G, 1A) wrist shot on a two-on-one beat Ray Baran (25/30) to tie the game early in the middle frame. Minseo Song (1G, 1A) and Mars Zhang (1G, 1A) traded power play goals before Sangjun Lee gave Delta Black the lead heading into the final period. Adriano Ciccone tied the game once again early in the third but another Delta Black shorthanded goal, this time by Bryce Bose, put them ahead for good as they hung on through the final 10:10 to earn the 6-5 win.
