The first game of the day saw Ontario Hockey Academy hit double digit goals in a lopsided 10-2 win over Mount Academy. OHA scored the first nine goals of the game, though Mount did win the third period 2-1. Artem Kovalenko (2G, 2A) and defenseman Liam Marcil (1G, 3A) led the way with four points while Mykyta Staskevych (2G) chipped in with two goals. William Clarke and Darby Marshall scored for Mount in the loss.

Each team would score a power play goal in the first with Cooper McBride (1G, 2A) scoring for BWC Academy and George Yoshino (1G, 1A) countering for North Shore with his first of the season. Cody Simmons gave North Shore the lead 1:21 into the second but Pavel Morozov (1G, 1A) counted 3:02 later with a power play marker before Adriano Ciccone and Alex Iaichkin (1G, 1A) put BWC Academy ahead midway through the second. BWC Academy would control the third, outshooting North Shore 17-7 while getting a Logan Hooper (1G, 2A) empty netter to secure the victory. Lachlan Beatty (20/22) and Josh Harper (37/41) were in net for their respective teams.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (0) vs Delta Hockey Academy (9) U15 Prep
Ryder Pavlic (1G, 1A) scored his second of the season just 47 seconds in to set the tone in an eventual 9-0 Delta win. Carson Brown (3G, 1A) added two opening period goals while Colby Walker (2G) added one as Delta led 4-0 after 20. The scoreline would hold into the third as Jace Zemanek (20/20) and Nathen Bazley (39/48) kept clean sheets in the second period. In the third, Brown completed the hat-trick while Walker added his second 28 seconds later. Rylan Bassi (1G, 3A), Ronan Gow and Woojin Seo would each score their first of the game in the final minutes to round out the scoring. Defenseman Eli Vickers (4A) tied Bassi and Brown for the team lead with four points.
Edge School (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (3) U17 Prep
After a scoreless first period Braden Thompson opened the scoring for Prairie with his fourth of the season 4:33 into the game. Rylan Saunders (1G, 1A) tied the game midway through the period, but a Kashton Smith (2) power play marker put Prairie back ahead going into the final period. Ryder Johnsen brought the two teams level 2:16 into the third with a power play tally, his fourth goal of the season. Tyler Carpenter (2G) then scored back-to-back goals, including one on the power play, as Edge quickly turned a one goal deficit into a two goal lead. Smith would beat Delano Pockar (41/44) with 45 seconds left to cut into the deficit, but Edge would hold on for the remaining 45 seconds to secure the win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy Green (5) Female U18 Prep
In the CSSHL Featured Game of the Day Sophia Dhami (2G) opened the scoring 3:17 in before she traded goals with Sara Gerdel to give Delta Green a 2-1 lead after 20. Megan Norrie tied the game 12:52 into the second with her first of the season but a power play goal by Katie Olfert (2G) in the closing minutes of the third put Delta Green back on top. OHA outshot Delta Green 18-4 in the third but goals 48 seconds apart by Adie Schneider and Olfert with less than four minutes to play secured the Delta Green victory. Ella Dunham-Fox (38/40) made 38 saves to outduel Maive Gosselin Berg (16/21).
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4) Female U18 Prep
Hannah Pope (35/35) made 35 saves for her second career CSSHL shutout as NAX beat Pilot Mound 4-0. Pope and Rehn Hall (37/40) kept clean sheets in the first before Sabrina Di Fonzo (2G) scored the eventual game winner with 4:59 left in the second. Addison Cunnigham (2) doubled the lead with a late second period power play marker, before adding her second of the game midway through the third. Di Fonzo added an empty netter with 2:41 to clinch the shutout victory.
St. George’s School (7) vs North Shore Warriors (4) U15 Prep
The North Shore power play was clicking early as Quinn Herman (2G, 1A), Nicholas Sheldon and Drew Fulton (1G, 1A) all struck on the man advantage to give their team a 3-0 lead 58 seconds into the second. Nick Hill (3G) countered with two even strength goals midway through the second to bring St. George’s within one heading into the third. After watching the North Shore power play succeed, St. George’s took some notes heading into the third as Jayden Ni (3G, 1A) scored 1:05 into the period while on the man advantage. The St. George’s penalty kill then got their revenge as Hill and Alan Qui scored 39 seconds apart while shorthanded to erase the early 3-0 deficit. Herman would score another North Shore power play goal late in the game to bring his team within one, but Ni capped off the St. George’s win, and his hat-trick, with two goals in 10 seconds.
BWC Academy (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (6) U17
A late first period power play gave Pacific Coast the opportunity to take a 1-0 lead, something they would capitalise on as Hudson Elke (1G, 2A) scored his fifth of the season. BWC Academy erased the deficit in the second with three straight as Ryker Carson (1G, 1A), Kaiden Pound and Anthony Boffo all found the back of the net. Nathan Hodgins (1G, 1A) would get another Pacific Coast power play goal and Caden Sugiyama (2G) tied the game with 24 seconds left in the period as the third started even at 3-3. Ben Bury (1G, 1A) restored the BWC Academy lead 1:10 into the third but Maximus Scheffer (1G, 1A) was quick to counter 2:21 later. Jaidyn Bhandari put BWC Academy back ahead midway through the third but PCHA once again had an answer as Callan McCall levelled the score 1:40 later. That was the last time PCHA would trail as Sugiyama scored the game winner with 3:54 remaining, beating Nolan Costa (51/57) for his third goal of the season. Leon Auburger (40/45) made 40 saves in net for the win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (6) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep
The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy very nearly snapped their losing skid to start the season in their last game, but were ultimately outlasted by BWC 5-4 to extend the streak to nine straight losses. Okanagan Hockey Academy had their own need for victory, having lost three straight and four of five to start their U18 Prep season, and their start to the game set the stage for them to do what was needed. OHA led 3-0 after twenty minutes of play, but perhaps more indicatively, they outshot Wenatchee 22-2 in a dominant first period. Save for an Anderson Carter goal on a third-period power play for the Wild, the game remained slanted in favour of OHA throughout, and eventually, Eli Tverdovsky broke through at last. OHA had been without the Kamloops Blazers prospect to start the season, but his two goals and three points Friday marked his return and led OHA to the 6-1 win.
STAR Hockey Academy (2) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (15) U15
Friday’s game started with the high point of proceedings for STAR Hockey Academy – within 30 seconds, Matthew Atherley gave STAR a lead. That lead lasted nearly ten minutes. Jagger Clark (6G, 2A) scored to tie the game, and five minutes later, TJ Podollan (4G, 3A) had turned the game in Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s favour. The lead would only grow from there; by the end of the first period, CDA led 4-1. Over the final forty minutes, CDA hit the STAR net with fifty more shots. Eight points from Clark and seven points from Podollan had their offensive production joined by linemate Reed Witham’s (1G, 7A) eight points. Coming off five straight losses, CDA snapped the slump in emphatic fashion, scoring 15 goals on 71 shots over three periods. STAR Hockey Academy and Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy will play twice more this weekend, and after the defeat, they’ll be hoping they can find a way to bounce back.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (5) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U15
The start of October for RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna’s U15 contingent hadn’t started well, with three consecutive losses last weekend leaving them still in search of their second win of the season. Pacific Coast Hockey Academy will be RHA Kelowna’s opponent on Saturday night as well, and in the first of their back-to-back, RHA Kelowna hit the ground running. Kingston Prenioslo (2G, 2A) scored 39 seconds in to give RHA Kelowna the lead, but after failing to convert on a pair of powerplay opportunities, PCHA would tie things up through a goal by Gus Steeves. Early in the second period, a two-minute and forty-second stretch set the game’s result in stone. Prenioslo’s second goal of the game was sandwiched between Harlan Grimsdell and Kamdyn Marple goals to give RHA Kelowna a 4-1 lead. PCHA made an all-out offensive push in the third period, outshooting RHAK 20-4, but Luke Kochhlar (35/36) made all 20 saves he needed to make in the RHAK crease. An empty-net goal sealed the deal to establish RHA Kelowna as 5-1 victors in the first of the back-to-back, with Saturday night PCHA’s chance at a bounce-back.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (2) vs Edge School (4) U17
Three wins in four games for the Edge School U17 squad to start October gave them the momentum they’d roll into Friday’s game against NAX with. Ultimately, in a clash with a very capable Northern Alberta Xtreme team, the tightly-fought battle eventually had one thing to separate the two opponents; Edge School won the special teams battle. Edge scored both the first goal of the game and the eventual game-winner on the power play. Early in the third period, with the game still tied at two, Trent Caines took a four-minute penalty for Head Contact. That could have easily been Edge School’s demise, but they killed off the double-minor, and less than five minutes later, Edge went to the power play. Sure enough, it was Caines who came back to strike, scoring 52 seconds into the man advantage to give Edge the lead. Emerson Popil made 36 saves on 38 shots in total, but most importantly, he made 11 saves on 11 third-period shots to shut the door on NAX’s opportunity for a comeback. The two teams play twice more this weekend, and after such an evenly-matched game one, the rest of the weekend for NAX and Edge should be equally thrilling.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (7) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (3) U17 Prep
The Calgary International Hockey Academy U17 Prep team had only played one game on the season thus far, against the same opponent as they played on Friday night. CIHA bested Indigenous Sports Academy 12-2 in their first meeting of the season, but since then, ISA have generated some better performances, including a 9-2 win over Prairie Hockey Academy. Friday night’s game between the two teams was an incredible testament to the durability of ISA; after scoring the first goal, ISA suffered blow after blow, with CIHA tying the game up in the first, before scoring four goals in the second to open up a 5-1 lead. ISA fought back relentlessly, and after Tyson Bird scored a buzzer-beater shorthanded, they started the third on the front foot. Archie Tawiyaka pulled ISA back within two, but just when it seemed the comeback was on, Kash Codd struck for CIHA, completing his hat-trick and ending ISA’s hopes of a comeback. Codd’s hat-trick wasn’t the only big performance, with Tomas Figura (1G, 3A) notching four points and Taylor Green making 29 stops in the 7-3 CIHA win.
OHA Edmonton (4) vs Notre Dame Hounds (6) U17
The Notre Dame Hounds’ U17 squad has only played one previous game so far this season, winning 4-1 against Edge School. The Hounds’ start to the game meant everything in the scope of the contest; Liam Bird (2G, 1A) scored first, then two minutes later, Carter Rands (2G) went to work. In a 12-second span, Rands scored twice. OHA Edmonton did nothing but push back, but in the 3-0 deficit, it was entirely an uphill battle. Aaron Jackson (1G, 1A) and Gavin Gong (1G, 1A) both scored in the comeback effort, but an eventual pair of goals from Paul Abrametz propelled Notre Dame further into the lead every time OHA Edmonton got close. The two teams play head-to-head again on Sunday, where OHA Edmonton will look to get back on the winning track, now having lost back-to-back games after starting October with five straight wins.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (1) vs OHA Edmonton (7) Female U18 Prep
OHA Edmonton’s Female U18 Prep squad came into Friday on a six-game winning streak to start the season, and while RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg have shown themselves to be a solid squad throughout the season. Unfortunately for RHAW, OHA Edmonton have been an unstoppable force throughout the season, a theme which continued into Friday. Avery Sam (2G, 1A), Riley Cooper (1G, 3A), Izzy Gollop (2G), and Ryann Chimera (1G, 2A) all made early and frequent offensive impacts for OHAE, and while the team scored seven goals, Harlee Houle was still busy in the crease. She made 27 saves on the 28 shots to lay the foundation for the big OHAE win.
Edge School (5) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (3) U15 Prep
Edge School’s U15 Prep squad had only one blunder on the record heading into the Friday evening clash with Southern Alberta Hockey Academy, and Edge School’s near-invulnerability continued into this weekend. SAHA still hadn’t earned a victory in October, and despite an extremely valiant effort, they couldn’t against Edge School on Friday. The ever-present Brody Antignani notched two goals and an assist, with points on each of Edge School’s first three goals. SAHA fought back the entire game, but every time they scored, Edge School extended the lead further. Natthakorn Bulakul scored his first goal of the season for Edge on a third-period power play, the goal that would stand as the game-winner, and Edge School won 5-3.
Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs BWC Academy (2) U15 Prep
Yale Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep team remain the most dominant in the division this season, and unfortunately for BWC Academy, that domination still hasn’t ceased. Teagan Dernisky and Parker McMillan scored a goal and two assists each to continue their domination of the U15 Prep division. Both players now have points in each of their first eight games of the season, posting some dazzling numbers; McMillan scoring 15 goals and 35 points, and Dernisky scoring 14 goals and 32 points. Dernisky’s goal stood as the eventual game-winner, and Yale notched seven goals from seven different goal scorers in the big victory. Gavin Craig made 33 saves on 35 shots for the win, still very busy in the crease despite Yale’s offensive prowess.
STAR Hockey Academy (2) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (6) U17
Four goals in the first 24 minutes of Friday’s game for Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s U17 squad sent them well on their way to victory. Dustyn Good scored back-to-back goals to open his account up for the season, and while STAR Hockey Academy scored a pair of their own in the second, CDA kept pushing offensively. Coeur d’Alene would only hit back, and did so in style, as Blake Celski (1G, 1A) and Logan Madrid (1G, 1A) both scored fantastic goals after STAR’s pair to extend the lead again. Gunner Podollan made 39 saves on 41 shots in the eventual 6-2 victory, CDA’s third straight win in the first of three straight games between these two sides this weekend.
