Mount Academy (4) vs King’s Edgehill School (7) East U18 Prep
It did not take long for King’s Edgehill School to get the ball rolling in this early morning affair with Mount Academy. Dartmouth, NS native Reide Leroux (3G) put the Highlanders on the board just under two minutes in to play. Jack Ogden would later supply a second later in the frame. The Highlanders hot streak would continue in the second as they would strike for another three unanswered goals, all coming from special teams. Liam Befus and Kasper Kossila (2G) would each secure a powerplay marker while Leroux added his second of the morning, shorthanded. Mount would get on the board with a late tally from Ashton Bradley to stop the bleeding before the ice clean. Mount would find some life in the third, adding three goals to their tally including two from Diego Manzo (2G, 1A). However, KES would keep their lead intact with an extra pair from Kossila and Leroux. Keaton Pardy (29/33) would pick up the win between the pipes, posting 29-saves through sixty minutes.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (5) vs Mount Academy (2) East U17 Prep
Forward Thomas Garland (2G) continues his hot start to the season, picking up the opening two goals for OHO in their bout with Mount Academy. Braiden Rossiter would cut the lead to one with a point shot part way through the second. However, a late powerplay goal from Ryder Van Buskirk would restore OHO’s two goal advantage. To kick off the third, Luca Nobert (1G, 2A) would find Ian Roswell in tight for a tidy goal, extending OHO’s lead to three. William Clarke would make things close with a late goal for Mount but Nobert would put this game to bed with a shorthanded empty netter to seal off OHO’s second win of the campaign.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario (4) vs Rothesay Netherwood School (6) East U18 Prep
For the second consecutive game, Saint John Sea Dogs prospect Jesse Dunlap (1G, 2A) would open the scoring for Rosethay Netherwood School. Kenton Wong (1G, 1A) would later tie things up for OHO but a late effort from Cameron Spurrell (1G, 1A) would restore RNS’s lead through the opening twenty. To kick off the second, Kilian Alves Pereira (2A) would go end-to-end before laying one off for Drew Moores (1G, 2A) to extend RNS’s lead. Teams would exchange goals before OHO would tie things up with back-to-back powerplay markers off the sticks of Adam Clark (2G, 1A) and Anthony-James Bailey. However, RNS would once again have a successful end to the frame as Dixon Beatty (3G) would blast home his second of the match. Beatty would go on to score the insurance marker in the third, capping off his hat-trick and clinching the W for RNS.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U15
After leaving the first frame all squared a 1-1, Deston May would bury the go ahead goal for NAX. However, just 32-seconds would pass before Damon Chinski (1G, 1A) would bring OHA Edmonton back into contention. Halfway through the second and Alex Reinhardt (2G, 1A) would put NAX back ahead, burying one in close. Fast forward to the third and Josh Fenske (1G, 1A) would break the tie for OHA Edmonton, but another quick response from NAX would once again restore their advantage. Yukon Kim would bury the eventual game winner while Reinhardt and Dalton Sherwick would add the extra insurance markers to ensure NAX a debut victory in the U15 division.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (3) U15
Okanagan Hockey Academy’s pursuit of a successful start to the season ran into a significant hurdle in the form of Delta Hockey Academy White on Friday afternoon. Last Saturday, DHAW opened their season with a very complete performance against RHA Kelowna, winning 6-2. They’d open the scoring in this one through Mason Hostyn in the first period, but by the halfway point of the second, saw themselves behind thanks to OHA goals from Levi Leitner and Cruz Rasmussen. Noah Yoo (1G, 1A) pulled the game back to even terms before the conclusion of a high-event second period, and DHAW would continue their momentum into the third period. Goaltender Logan Wagner was perfect for DHAW in the third period, saving all 15 shots he faced, and provided his team the backstop to eventually score the third-period game-winner off the stick of Sajan Chatha (1G, 1A).
Northern Alberta Xtreme (8) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) U17
The Northern Alberta Xtreme are in Manitoba all weekend, with their Friday matchup the first of three games in three days against RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. NAX’s control of play was obvious from the outset, but they led just 1-0 after the first period. The floodgates would open early in the second period, though, and the quality of the Northern Alberta Xtreme squad prevailed. Two goals in 76 seconds at the beginning of the second opened up a three-goal lead, and by the end of the middle frame, NAX had pumped six into the RHAW net. Holter Lefthand (2G, 1A), Riley Wood (4A), Gabriel Esteves (3A), and Ethan Lobay (2G) led the way for NAX to win game one of the three-game weekend series.
Delta Hockey Academy (4) vs North Shore Warriors (0) U17
Delta Hockey Academy are one of just two teams that came into the weekend having played games in the U17 division already, now travelling up the Pacific coast to take on the North Shore Warriors. Delta won twice, 7-5 and 6-4, over STAR Hockey Academy last weekend. DHA looked to be the sharper of the two squads throughout, with their control over the first 40 minutes of the game evident through their 31-19 edge in shots on goal. That margin, however, would only widen in the third. Ben Boudreau (49/52) did all he could to keep his Warriors in a scoreless tie, but couldn’t keep the game scoreless forever. North Shore would break early in the third, with a pair of fateful penalties leading to DHA’s power play punishing the Warriors. Peyton May and Beckham Skrypnyk scored on two different DHA power plays within 71 seconds, suddenly throwing the Warriors into a hole they couldn’t climb out of. Delta would add a pair in the last minute of the game to make absolutely sure of the shutout victory, with Lucas Disiewich’s 24 saves earning him DHA’s third win in three games to start the season.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) vs Edge School (2) U15
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s weekend in Calgary will ultimately end up being four games across two days, a workload made more challenging given the fact that the team hadn’t yet played a league game prior to the marathon this weekend. Last night, the start of their series of consecutive battles ended in success, with RHA Winnipeg’s Liam Hailstone leading the way with two goals and three points in a 6-1 win over Calgary International Hockey Academy. Edge School are faced with a three-in-three this weekend that starts and ends with RHA Winnipeg. Edge quickly had to learn what CIHA had been taught last night, with RHA Winnipeg coming out and immediately taking the game to the hosts. Edge never failed to fight back in the early stages, though, tying the game twice after conceding. Maddox Finn scored the go-ahead goal on a late first-period power play to give RHA Winnipeg the lead heading into the second, and in the second, they’d extend it further. A pair of crushing short-handed goals from Jax Fellner and Caleb Church (1G, 1A) left Edge down by three goals going into the third period, a deficit they couldn’t overcome. RHAW remain perfect through the first half of their weekend in Southern Alberta, winning 5-2 over Edge School.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (7) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy Black Female (0) U18 Prep
A back-to-back in Penticton this weekend for Delta Hockey Academy Black’s Female U18 squad will see Okanagan Hockey Academy Black play host, or adversary, both Friday and Saturday. The first of these two games ended in a more respectable scoreline than the shots on target numbers would lead you to believe. Delta Black threw everything OHA Black’s way, but only found the back of the net once in the first period, through a Maille Briggs goal. A pair of stick infractions in the second period from OHA Black gave Delta Black, specifically Neveah Brankovic, the opportunity to strike. Brankovic scored on both power plays, giving DHAB a 3-0 lead through forty minutes of play. Delta’s dominance did eventually extend the lead to a score that reflected the one-sided nature of the game, with DHAB scoring four in the third to eventually win 7-0. The dominance was not only reflected in the scoreline, but in the 60-17 shots on goal tally in favour of the victors.
OHA Edmonton (3) vs Edge School (1) Female U18 Prep
OHA Edmonton made the three-hour trip south Friday to take on Edge School in the first of two head-to-head matchups that open up both Female U18 Prep teams’ seasons. OHA Edmonton’s Avery Sam (2G, 1A) scored twice in a first period that saw her team outshoot Edge School 19-3. Samantha Baker managed to pull Edge School back within one, but OHAE remained the ones with all the big chances. Riley Cooper (1G, 2A) scored on the power play in the third period to extend OHAE’s lead to 3-1. Harlee Houle (17/18) did all she needed to do from there to backstop her team to the victory.

North Shore Warriors (1) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (4) U15 Prep
The lone U15 Prep game was late Friday night, with the North Shore Warriors and RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna playing their first of back-to-back matchups Friday and Saturday nights at Kal Tire Place. North Shore scored just past the first period’s halfway point through a perfectly-placed sharp-angle shot from Will Thompson. North Shore outshot RHA Kelowna 21-18 through an evenly-fought first 40 minutes. RHAK came out of the second intermission like a train, and a run of three goals in 3:36 early in the third period through Will Tidsbury (1G, 1A), Austin Schultz, and Jason Lodge pushed RHA Kelowna well in front. Nixon McLean’s empty net goal sealed the deal with Maxwell Davis’ 31 saves backstopping RHA Kelowna to victory.
