January 2026 Player of the Month Award Winners

The CSSHL has announced the eight division winners of the January Player of the Month Award.

Eastern U17 Prep: Mario Lapenna, Lower Canada College

It was a dominant month for the 2009 born Montreal, QC forward as he recorded a division best 16 goals, 16 assists and 32 points in just 9 games. Lapenna leads the East U17 Prep division with 29 goals and 60 points and is tied for the lead with 31 assists in 19 games. Now in his second CSSHL season, Lapenna had 42 points last year and recently became the first player in East U17 Prep history to hit 100 career points.

Lapenna mène la division M17 Prép Est avec 29 buts et 60 points, et est à égalité au premier rang pour les passes avec 31 en 19 matchs. Maintenant à sa deuxième saison dans la CSSHL, Lapenna avait récolté 42 points l’an dernier et est récemment devenu le premier joueur de l’histoire du M17 Prép Est à atteindre la marque des 100 points en carrière.

Eastern U18 Prep: Luca Stasi, Bishop’s College School

For the second time this season, Stasi has been named the CSSHL East U18 Prep Player of the Month Award Winner, having previously done so in November. A Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 2024 QMJHL Draft pick, the Kirkland, QC forward led all skaters with 13 goals and 20 points in 7 games in January. In 20 games this season he leads all skaters with 26 goals, 20 assists and 46 points, 14 more than anyone else. 

Pour la deuxième fois cette saison, Stasi est nommé Joueur du Mois du M18 Prép Est de la CSSHL, après avoir déjà reçu cet honneur en novembre. Choix du repêchage 2024 de la LHJMQ par l’Armada de Blainville-Boisbriand, l’attaquant de Kirkland a mené tous les patineurs en janvier avec 13 buts et 20 points en 7 matchs. En 20 matchs cette saison, il mène tous les patineurs avec 26 buts, 20 passes et 46 points, soit 14 de plus que son plus proche poursuivant.

Female U18 Prep: Mya Young, Delta Hockey Academy Green

Young played two games in January, recording shutouts in both to give her a 2-0-0 record with a 0.00GAA and 1.000SV%. A 2010 born netminder who spent the last two seasons playing on the men’s side with BWC Academy, Young leads the division with a 1.17GAA, while her 10 wins, .953SV% and 4 shutouts all sit second.

U15: Jackson Sponchia, BWC Academy

The Maple Ridge, BC defenseman led all skaters with 16 assists in 5 games, including a 7 assist game against STAR Hockey Academy on January 11. Sponchia tied for the lead among dmen with 16 points, tied for fourth among all skaters. On the season Sponchia has 3 goals and 25 assists in 28 games.

U15 Prep: Ronan Gow, Delta Hockey Academy

The Nanaimo, BC forward led all U15 Prep skaters with 10 goals in 6 games in January. His 14 points were third most among all skaters, giving him 43 on the season. Gow sits top 10 in goals (23) and points (43) this season, and has recorded 57 points in 53 U15 Prep games after tallying 14 in 29 last year.

U17: Nathan Marques, Okanagan Hockey Academy

Marques continues to run away with the division scoring lead as he posted a January best 21 points and 11 goals in 10 games played. Now in his third year in the CSSSHL with OHA, the Penticton, BC forward has a division best 38 goals and 66 points this season.

U17 Prep: Colton Ross, RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg

The U17 Prep division scoring leader increased his totals in January with a division best 22 points and 12 goals in 6 games. On the season the Winnipeg, MB forward leads the division with 25 goals and 43 points in 20 games.

U18 Prep: Vlad Ibragimov, North Shore Warriors

A 2025 WHL Draft pick by the Medicine Hat Tigers, Ibragimov led the division with 15 points and 11 goals in 8 games played. This season he leads his team with 19 goals and 34 points, sitting third in the division in goals and ninth in points. Having recorded 40 points in 36 games last season the Calgary, AB forward has 74 points in 61 career U18 Prep games.
