GAME DAY RECAP: October 2-3, 2024

Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (5) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) U18 Prep

September POTM River Arnason (1G, 1A) scored just 32 seconds in and Layne Schofield (2G) added his first of the season less than three minutes later. William Picklyn scored a power play goal to get PMHA on the board 1:54 later but Drayden Uhrina (1G, 1A) restored the two goal lead 10 minutes later. Schofield and Jett Deschamps scored back-to-back early in the second to extend the lead. Briggs Olson and Carter Haney traded goals to close out the second. Asher Gingras (3G) recorded a natural hat-trick to start the third and bring Pilot Mound within one. However, a Jake Ritson (1G, 3A) goal with 22 seconds left secured the RHA Winnipeg victory. 

Prairie Hockey Academy (10) vs Indigenous Sports Academy (1) U18 Prep

After a scoreless first Prairie erupted for 5 goals in the second and another five in the third en route to a 10-1 win. Griffin Horne (3G, 1A) recorded a hat-trick while Henry Thunderblanket (4A) added four assists to tie for the team lead in points. Lennart Braun (2A), Grant Giliege (2A) and Chase Kunn (2A) all chipped in with two assists. Tayvian Delorme scored the lone ISA goal, beating Micah Davidson (24/25) late in the second. 

Edge School (3) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) Female U18 Prep

Rowyn Street (1G, 1A) scored 1:28 into the game for RHA Winnipeg but an Aoife Scase goal tied things heading into the second. Sydney Stibbard and Attica Sobering scored power play goals 2:05 apart as RHA Winnipeg regained the lead heading into the third. Olivia Imperato (1G, 1A) and Samantha Baker each found the back of the net to start the third and tie the game. But Ava Hrubeniuk (1G, 2A) would reply for RHA Winnipeg with 2:49 left, giving her team the 4-3 win. Bailey Schwartz (31/34) and Alexis Ehrman (26/30) were in net for their respective teams. 

South Alberta Hockey Academy (5) vs St. Mary’s Academy (2) Female U18 Prep

St. Mary’s led 1-0 after 20 as Camryn Falloon scored her second goal of the season 3:39 into the first. Keyana Bert (1G, 2A) tied the game 5:09 into the second with a power play goal. Payton Henwood quickly replied 2:43 later for St. Mary’s but the game was tied 2-2 after two periods of play as Marley Howes scored her first of the season for SAHA. The teams were still deadlocked 51 minutes through the game until Emily Gerdevich (1G, 1A) scored her first goal of the season and the eventual game winner. Riley Bourque (2G) would add her first of the year three minutes later before adding an empty net, short handed goal in the final minute. Phoenix Buckler (17/19) made 17 saves to earn the win. 

Fort Erie International Academy (2) vs A21 Biosteel Sports Academy (4) Eastern U17

BSA led 1-0 on a goal by Raiden Doxtator (2G) 6:13 into the game. Emilio Collard responded for Fort Erie just 11 seconds later and Thomas Harvey added his first of the season to put his team ahead 2-1. Doxtator would tie the game 2:29 later and the game would remain that way until Ethan O’Neil (1G, 1A) put Biosteel ahead with 58 seconds left in the second. Tomas Kniaziew (23/25) would make 9 third period saves and Noah Waybrant added an empty net goal with 38 seconds left as Biosteel held on for a 3-1 win. Felix-Antoine Tessier (42/45) faced 45 shots in the loss. 

CIH Academy (3) vs A21 Biosteel Sports Academy (1) Eastern U18

After a scoreless first Colin Lefebvre scored a power play marker to put CIH Academy ahead 1-0. Evan Klein would counter for BSA to tie the game heading into the third. The game looked as though it would require extra time until Nikita Marinin put CIH Academy ahead with 3:34 left to play. Justin Savage would add a goal with 35 seconds remaining to secure the CIH Academy victory to kick-off their weekend. Noah Vidal (22/23) made 22 saves to record the win. 

Ontario Hockey Academy (0) vs Bishop’s College School (5) Eastern U17

Egor Oganesyan (32/32) made 32 saves as Bishop’s shutout OHA 5-0. Greyson Hnatiuk scored 6:36 into the first to provide Bishop’s all of the offence they would need. Brandon Fuicelli scored in the second while Masanori Black, Grady Cohen and Lucas Fan added goals in the third period. Mathis Bernier (45/50) made 45 saves in the loss. 

Bishop’s College School (7) vs Fort Erie International Academy (1) Eastern U18

Bishop’s College scored seven straight to start the game with Elie Champagne, David Szabo (2G, 1A), Dominic Schnarr (1G, 1A), Kayden Robitaille, Simon Picard and Zachary Roussy (1G, 1A) finding the back of the net in a 7-1 win. Gianluca Garippo ended Bishop’s run and the Will Harris (18/19) shutout bid with 7:19 left in the game. 

Notre Dame (0) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (4) U17

An all-around performance from Prairie locked down Notre Dame in a Thursday matchup. Tyson Ross (1G, 1A) opened the scoring on the powerplay, which would go on to be the game winner. Luka Iskra, Zander Watson and Alijah Lodhar would pick up the other three for PHA while Cole Fox (26/26) turned aside all 26-shots for the shutout.
