1 Current, 11 Former CSSHL Student-Athletes Named to Team Canada U17

11 former and 1 current Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) student-athletes have been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2025 U17 World Challenge.

The tournament, which is set to take place November 2-8 at Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia, will see 44 players represent Team Canada White and Team Canada Red.

South Alberta Hockey Academy netminder Cash Christie is the lone active CSSHL student-athlete to make Team Canada U17.

Among the 44 players selected are 19 from the WHL, 12 of which played in the CSSHL. The 12 CSSHL alumni represent eight different CSSHL member programs: Edge School (6), St. George’s School (3), Northern Alberta Xtreme (2),  Calgary International Hockey Academy (1), Delta Hockey Academy (1), Shawnigan Lake School (1) and South Alberta Hockey Academy (1).

Canada Red:

  • Blake Chorney – Northern Alberta Xtreme
  • Brock Cripps – St. George’s School
  • Mirco Dufour – Edge School
  • Brock England – Edge School
  • Joaquin Geras – Edge School
  • Owen Hayden – Edge School
  • Leif Oaten – Edge School

Canada White:

  • Aden Bouchard – Calgary International Hockey Academy/Edge School
  • Cash Christie – South Alberta Hockey Academy/St. George’s School/BWC Academy
  • Ben Harvey – Northern Alberta Xtreme
  • Eli McKamey – Shawnigan Lake School
  • Jacob Schwartz – St. George’s School/Delta Hockey Academy

The 2025 U17 World Challenge kicks off on Nov. 2, with Canada Red taking on Finland at 3:30 p.m. AT and Canada White facing off against Sweden at 7:30 p.m. AT. Teams will play two preliminary-round games before the medal round, which concludes on Nov. 8 with the medal games. The event will also feature pre-tournament games in Truro, Amherst and Wolfville on Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. AT.

The 2024 U17 World Challenge saw 12 CSSHL alumni compete for Team Canada Red and White.
